Important Information
The Small Print
As with any business there are some common questions and issues we have faced over the years. We would much prefer to avoid these and find a conversation is by far the best way to iron out any unlikely problems. Here is what we have learnt and would like to share...
Payment:
We will ask for full payment at the point of ordering, unless prearranged with the management. We do not offer any form of credit. All items remain the property of Askews until full payment is made
Measuring:
Askew’s will not take any responsibility for any miss measuring by a customer. If your measurements are wrong and your flooring does not fit it will still be charged for (at the discretion of the management)
We offer a free measuring service, please use it.
Fitting Charges:
Fitting must be paid in full direct to our fitter upon completion of any works carried out. Our fitters will require 48 hours notice for any cancellation. If this is not given a charge may apply at the discretion of our fitter.
Pile Pressure and shading:
You will get pile pressure on any carpet, this occurs when you walk or have furniture stood. This is not a manufacturing fault and can be helped by regular vacuuming
Trade recommendations for vacuuming are to use an upright vacuum for a twist pile carpet and a cylinder vacuum for a loop pile carpet.
Shading is a natural occurrence in carpets and is where the pile lays in different directions, causing it to look a different colour. Again, this is a natural characteristic of the carpet and not a manufacturing defect.
Press Marks
All carpets are rolled on cardboard poles to protect the carpet from becoming misshapen, this may cause a press mark. This is not a fault and will resolve itself over time.
Colour Variation
This can occur when carpets come from a different batch (as with wallpaper) Each batch will have a slight variation in colour and we are unable to guarantee a perfect colour match. We therefore strongly advise that if you want matching carpets you purchase them all at the same time, irrespective of fitting schedule, to ensure you minimise the risk of colour
